We asked Kayla and Chuck to describe the beginning of their love story and why they chose Castle Farm as their venue.
We met at Seacrets while working summer jobs. We met briefly in 2015, but it wasn’t until 2019 that Chuck formally asked me on our first date. We went to Big Chill Beach Club and ever since we have been inseparable. Chuck proposed on March 19, 2022, on the Ocean City Fishing Pier.

We chose Castle Farm Weddings because it was the perfect atmosphere and we both felt comfortable in it. Being able to rent the entire property gives you plenty of privacy on your wedding day and we could not have pictured a more perfect venue for us. A big consideration when searching for our venue was “Do they have a good Plan B option for the weather?”. Although we wanted to get married in the woods, because of the weather unfortunately we had to move it inside. Although our plans changed, the inside barn option is also beyond beautiful and it did not bring us down in any way since we had such a beautiful backup option. Everything we were envisioning came to life perfectly with our incredible vendor team.

What was the most memorable part of your day and the most unique aspects of your wedding?
Saying “I do”, walking down the aisle with my new hubby, and seeing all our family and friends after. Jess Ludwig with Faded Sol truly brought our vision to life and added the most special unique touches to our decor. We had the bridesmaids in different shades of blue and the men in tan suits. Those colors were used throughout our decor. Maisy Cline with On Cloud Cline was our day-of planner (Sara with the assist too!) and Jess Ludwig provided most of the decor.

We had a bohemian theme with pampas grass and roses. Ami with Little Miss Lovely absolutely crushed it with the flowers. The entire bouquet was dried flowers, with the exception of a few roses in each, and we can keep them forever! As favors, we set up our seating chart to include a pair of heart-colored sunglasses for each guest. On the sunglass, it noted the guest’s name along with their table number. They were able to wear the sunglasses the rest of the night and take them home! We also had baby succulents on each guest’s seat as a favor as well. Plus reusable cups and koozies to take home! Feedback from guests… The venue was beautiful. The food and drinks were delicious. They had sooo much fun! (with the help of DJ Waxx)

Is there anything about your day that you wish you would have done differently? Do you have tips for other brides who are planning a wedding?
Honestly… I can’t think of anything! Even with the unpredictable weather, our team of vendors did everything in their power to make it run as smoothly as possible. It was absolutely worth it for us to have Faded Sol for the delivery of decor/set up and a day-of coordinator to release any additional stress we may have had on the actual day otherwise. We were able to relax and take it all in after a year plus of planning!

Tell us about your catering choices:
Black Diamond Catering in Fruitland, Maryland. We did the Eastern Shore Classic Package that included a stationary Cheese Board Table, Cocktail Shrimp as a passed appetizer, Open Kettle Fried Chicken/Honey Ham/Jumbo Lump Crab Cake for entrees, served with a tossed salad, vegetables, and potatoes. We also added roast beef crostini and tuna wontons for passed appetizers. The dinner was a buffet which went smoothly and the staff were great”

Tell us about your after-wedding party and honeymoon:
We had a low-key after-party at Cork Bar in downtown Ocean City for anyone who wanted to join. Our hotel block was at Cambria which we highly recommend! They were so great to work with and plus they have a fun restaurant/bar called Spain Wine Bar on the top floor with amazing views and fun vibes. We waited one month to take our honeymoon for Chuck to get on summer break since he is a teacher. We split it into two parts, We went to the West Coast for six nights and did a road trip from San Diego up around the Grand Canyon and back down towards Phoenix. And then the second half we went to Playa Del Carmen Mexico and stayed at Hotel Xcaret Arte for six nights which was a dream!
